Fill Material for Brushes and Brooms

Proex is polypropylene and this product derives its' name from the X-shape of the bristle. The most widely used and versatile filament combination is a mixture of Proex and Crimped Wire. This material is really efficient and utilized as an all purpose filament for indoor and outdoor sweeping applications, consisting of humid or damp conditions. Proex is not suggested for any high temperature sweeping applications.

Another frequently utilized fill material in sweeper brushes is Nylon. This highly productive filament is extremely effective in dry sweeping surroundings and these applications in long lasting brush life. Nylon is great for high temperature conditions because of its durability and high melting point. It also works well on rough surfaces. Nylon is also a more flexible material option and lasts longer in scrubbing applications. When conditions are wet or humid, nylon performs less accurately.

Union Fiber is a mixture of Tampico fibers and Palmyra. This particular material is really efficient for sweeping fine debris and for dust control. As opposed to various materials that are synthetic, Union has a relatively shorter wear life. Normally it is combined with wire to be able to provide more stiffness in general.

The Nylon filament referred to as Grit, comprises silicon carbide grit particles. These filaments come in many sizes, including: 070"/46, .050"/80, .035"/180, .022"/120, and .018"/500. The first number is the size of the diameters filament. The stiffer the bristle, the higher the number and the second number means the particle size. Grit is labeled like sandpaper; the smaller the grit size translates to more aggressive scrubbing ability.
